COBRA Coverage

If your Spouse has been carrying the medical insurance, under a Federal Law known as COBRA, you can continue to have the same insurance coverage that you currently have, but with paying an individual premium to that insurance company. COBRA coverage tends to be very expensive, which totally defeats the purpose of the COBRA law. You are better off, usually, looking to your own employment for medical insurance. You can compare costs by contacting your current insurance company for their COBRA coverage premiums, and compare the coverage offered with either whatever your employer is offering or an individual policy you would obtain independently.

I hope the above provides you with an outline from which to work in making the numerous decisions that need to be made in the next several months. If you are unclear on any of the points, or would like to ask a specific question, please do not hesitate to call.
